Lucy's First Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving this year was a little different than the last couple of years for us.  The last two years Brandon has been fortunate to fall into a schedule that had all or part of the days of Thanksgiving and Christmas off.  We weren't as fortunate this year.  He had a double shift today and had to sleep in between shifts so our Thanksgiving had to look a little different.  I know that the girls won't know any different and they'll know that their daddy will just have to work some holidays and we'll work around it, but it kind of makes it hard for a mom who has experienced holidays differently growing up.  We're still trying to figure out what traditions and time we need as a family on these days.  Needless to say we had a great Thanksgiving today no matter how short and different it was.

Today the girls and I woke up like we normally do, but we did a little decorating and setting up the table.  We also watched a little bit of the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade :). After Brandon's nap the Pierce side was all coming over for a Thanksgiving potluck.  The girls and I took a little nature walk during the late morning and picked up some colorful leaves and berries for the table.  We also finished up some napkin rings that Aubrey helped create.

I think our table turned out pretty cute...

This was a particularly special Thanksgiving because it was Lucy's first!  This time last year she was kicking my ribs and causing some heart burn and now she is a bouncy, happy little girl we get to squeeze and hold.  We are so incredibly thankful for this little one!!  She had a pretty normal day today, but naps were not the best today.  So after her afternoon nap I decided to squeeze in taking pictures of this little pumpkin (without Brandon).

Seconds after I took this picture she grabbed for the smallest pumpkin.

Even though I supported her back and was just about to grab her to take her back inside she face planted right on the cement.  Huge mom fail and I felt terrible!!  This has not been my week.  I know that scrapes heal, but that goose egg and scratches on her forehead don't make me feel so great.  All goes to show that sometimes a mom will do anything for a picture :). I learned a couple of lessons today and I won't be repeating them anytime soon.

We woke up daddy early (because mommy obviously needed some help) and the next hour went a lot smoother.

Our family came and each brought a dish to share.  It was SO nice that I didn't have to cook the entire day.  We didn't have a full traditional Thanksgiving meal but boy was it yummy.  Aubrey even got to sit at her own kiddy table and she was pretty content with that :).

Thank you so much to our family for helping out and making it a little easier on this momma today :).

Despite this days ups and downs we did remember just how much we have to be thankful for.  We have wonderful family and friends who have supported us and helped us out in so many countless ways, we have two healthy girls, a great job for Brandon that despite his crazy schedule provides for our family and keeps momma at home right now, a home, cars, a wonderful husband, our health, and so many other provisions.  We are so incredibly blessed and we are so undeserving of so much!  We're thanking God for His many blessings!!  Happy Thanksgiving!!  Hope you enjoyed this day :).

Apple Hill 2013

Today we got to finally go to Apple Hill this season.  There are some definite perks with a hubby who works crazy shifts and has some mornings off, so this morning our previous plans had changed and we decided to go together as a family.

Because it wasn't a weekend it wasn't crowded and we could take our time.  Another perk of the hubby not always having weekends off...we don't fight as many crowds :).

This was Lucy's first time and although we didn't get to spend a lot of time there I think it was a success and memories were made.  It was a crisp, fall morning and we made it to Abel's Acres and drove around a bit.  The trip wouldn't be complete without an apple doughnut or a caramel apple pie apple to take home and enjoy later.  We enjoyed the morning together and we were so glad to make it up the hill this year :).

Aubrey's Third Birthday Celebrations

Aubrey's third birthday ended up being a whole weekend celebration!  We had lots of friends and family all come to celebrate Aubrey and it meant the world to us!

On Friday, Aubrey's real birthday, we had her favorite for dinner: pancakes!  We enjoyed some very sweet, funfetti pancakes that really made the birthday girl happy.  And yes she got to eat dinner in her pajamas :).

Aubrey understands a lot more about what birthdays are all about this year so we decided to celebrate with a painting party!  Aubrey loves anything art and so this theme was pretty fitting for her :).  On Saturday we had her painting party.

The decorations were fun and cheap to make and of course they had Aubrey's favorite colors in them- pink and purple :).  It was forecast to rain that weekend, but the rain held off and we couldn't have asked for a more perfect day!

Her close buddies came to celebrate with her and they each got to paint with paint popsicles on a small canvas.  Each kid got their own little apron and then they went at it.  Of course this got a little messy but the projects sure turned out cute.

Thanks to a lot of helping hands (you know who you are and thank you so much!), we had some fun colorful food including "painted" popcorn, Rice Krispy paint brushes, and rainbow Jello and fruit kabobs.  We also had cupcakes organized on paint pallets.

We had some messy faces after all the eating. It was so great to celebrate with so many close friends and have so many people supporting this little three year old.

It was time to sing to the birthday girl...

We even had a little paparazzi action from little Noah right before we sang :).

And just like that this little one was ready to dig into one of her cupcakes.  Boy does this girl LOVE cupcakes!

After cupcakes this girl loved opening her presents.

We had such a blast celebrating with her closest friends and we are so blessed to have so many people in her life that are so wonderful and so supportive and you all have a special place in our hearts.  Thank you all for coming and celebrating with us!!  It meant so much to us!  Also, a BIG thank you to Lyndsay for tag teaming the picture taking with me.  You did a wonderful job of capturing the day and we really appreciate you doing this for us :).

Sunday evening was yet another celebration!  This one was a family dessert night.  Nana made the cake and we had both sides of the family over for cake and ice cream.  Uncle Jeremy and Aunts Marta and Lidia also came for the weekend so we got to celebrate with them too :).

We had a great evening with family and Aubrey loved her pink and purple butterfly cake!

Oh Aubrey girl!  With all your silliness, your faces, laughter, your quiet spirit and so much more, we love every bit of you!!

Thanks for making each day wonderful.  We love you!  We can't wait to see what this next year holds in store for you :).
