Aubrey's 1st Birthday Party

Aubrey's owl theme birthday party started out with some homemade cards and some creative trimmings along the way...

On November 12 we had the birthday party for little miss Aubrey.  To begin the party well Aubrey decided to take a 3 hour nap!  We even had to wake her up for her own party :).  Grandma made a beautiful cake that even had a mini owl, dairy-free cake for Aubrey.

Aubrey really enjoyed her first taste of sugar and had a fun getting that frosting all over her face :).

The presents were a big hit. She even got three tea sets!

Football from Uncle Jon

Grandpa Pierce even made Aubrey her own stocking :)

We had so much family come from out of town to celebrate with us!!

The parents and great grandparents were extra happy

The owl theme continued to the favors...

Thank you to everyone who came and celebrated with us!!  We can't believe our little girl is one!

One Year Old!!!

I don't know how we went from this...

to this...

in a year!!!

I just can't believe this little girl is one!! A year ago I couldn't tell you how our lives would change, although I knew it would. She has brought so much joy, laughter, entertainment, smiles, fullfilment in being a mom and a dad, and love. There is nothing like the feeling and experience of being parents.  You can try to tell someone about it, but until you experience it for yourself it just doesn't compare.  You just can't imagine how much love you have for this little miracle and how much you would do for her.  Even with the hard days, there is no better job than being a mom.  A friend and coworker said that, "Any bad day at home beats any good day of teaching."  She was totally right!  We just couldn't imagine our lives without her and how much God has blessed us with a little girl like her.

The first few months we thought would never end.  One doesn't know how one will survive on such little sleep, but we made it!  Sleep deprived I remember yelling at Brandon while we were trying to sleep at 2:00am, " Do you have the baby?!  Where's Aubrey?!"  She was of course sleeping soundly in her basinet :).  God truly gave us the strength we needed to survive.

Now a year later our little girl has rolled over, sat up, crawled, and now trips and fall many times but is walking.  She went from eating just milk to now eating solids and loving it.  She went from not even being the least interested in reading books to now handing the books to be read and sitting in your lap waiting for you to read it.  She gives kisses.  She tries to put on her socks and shoes.  She went from hardly sleeping to sleeping through the night.  She went from showing none of her personality to showing it in true color now.  We are just loving every minute of it :).

As we look to the next year ahead, we know that you will change and grow so much more.  This year has gone by so fast and I'm sure the next will as well.  We will cherish every moment we have you with you little one and love you more every day.  We love you Aubrey girl!  Happy Birthday!!!
