August 2017 Tidbits

 

This month we worked on getting more of Lucy's room transformed into a 'big girl' room!  Lots of details still to be done, but it's coming together.

 

 

We got to take a hike one weekend to Hidden Falls with the Hartin family while they are in town.  It was so good to get out, get some great conversations in, and have fun together.  We love them dearly and miss them every time they go back to Indonesia.  We certainly cherish the times we get with them!

 

Aubrey had her first day of school in August (and so did mommy, but a week earlier).  Back to scheduled time commitments and busy days ahead!

 



Aubrey's school had a pancake breakfast one Saturday to celebrate the new school year and catch up with friends.  It was a great, fun start to the year so far!

 

 We also did lots of swimming and had a lot of fun in the water!

 

 

We got to celebrate my mom's birthday this month!  The cake was a strawberry and cream cake that the birthday girl loved.

This month also brought on some extreme heat in the area, new beginnings with a start to a new work school year for me, and some big changes coming our way next month!



First Day of 1st Grade

 

And just like that, she's on to 1st grade!  Another year of fun and learning ahead!

Thus begins our daily walks to school and early mornings.

 

 

It's going to be a great year Aubrey!  We can't wait to see what you will learn and how much you will grow!

 

 



Aubrey's Kindergarten Program

 

At the end of the school year, Aubrey had a kindergarten sing night.  They sang some of the songs that they sing on a daily basis and songs they learned throughout the year.  Our Aubrey was a little shy (and didn't want to even practice her singing at home because she got too embarrassed each time), but she did great and it was oh so cute!

 

 

 

We just had to take some pictures with our walking clan.  We walk almost daily to or from school at one point or another and we've become pretty close with these sweet friends :).

 

 

 

This blog post is a little late in coming and time is just going by so fast!  We are going to have a first grader in a week and I can't believe Aubrey's Kindergarten chapter has come to a close.

 

We're so thankful for these precious memories :).



July Tidbits

July was yet another busy month!  I honestly don't think there will be a month where it isn't I guess :).

 

Our 4th of July was pretty low key.  We went to the Roseville parade in the morning and visited with some friends in the afternoon. 

 

Nana and Papa's motorhome had its first trip!  You can see more of that trip here.

We had our friends the Jicklings visit from Canada!  These boys have grown a lot in the past year!

Aubrey got to do an art class with her friend Elisa one Saturday morning.

 

July also brought a visit to Utah to visit family.  You can see more of that here.

July was HOT!  We tried to cool down as much as we could with swimming a lot, playing water games, and running through the sprinklers for a little bit.  Now that the drought is kind of over, we got to at least play in the water more this summer!

 

One of our projects was to get most/all of the baby stuff out of her room and transform it into a big girl room.  After 6 garbage bags full of clothes and toys we definitely made progress on it!

 

It's still a work in progress :).

One evening we went out for an early dinner and then went kayaking as a family.  The girls had so much fun and it was such a fun memory for all of us.

We had our fair share of birthday parties and celebrations this month!  One evening Aubrey was invited to birthday party, so we had some special time with just Lucy :).  Ice cream was of course on the agenda!

 

 

 

 

And because we enjoyed our first experience kayaking, we decided to go for a date night out on the lake again.  It was beautiful and so fun.  I think we might just be doing this more and more often :).

 

 

Summer is going by way too fast. but we really enjoyed our month and some time off with daddy home before our lives really get crazy! (More to come on that later!)
