First Father-Daughter Dance ~ Ties and Tiaras

This night was one of the most memorable evenings, especially for Aubrey and her daddy.  They got to go to their first father-daughter dance at school.  The theme was Ties and Tiaras.  These two could not get any cuter!

First corsage, first flowers all for herself.  This little girl felt pretty special that night.

What a special time for these two together!  We hope this is the first of many father-daughter dances to come!

Aubrey Has Initiative and Integrity

Full disclosure.  This post is about a recent, very proud parent moment. (Yes, we're bragging on our little Aubrey for just a bit).

Our little Aubrey doesn't usually give up.  When something is hard, she doesn't just say, "I can't," but she actually tries hard (most days).  When she wants something, she problem solves to figure out how exactly she can get the task done.  She does takes initiative to get things done!

That's Aubrey and we're pretty proud of her perseverance and good attitude to keep trying.

It's pretty special when someone else recognizes her abilities and strengths.  Her teacher recognized her for having initiative and integrity in class and she nominated Aubrey for these special character traits award last month!  It was pretty special for us as her parents, and pretty special for Aubrey.

Brandon and I both took the morning off of work to be there for this special event.  Although the assembly last for less than 30 minutes, it was worth it to be there for our little girl!

She was surprised and encouraged that she received this award, and she was even more surprised to see us all sitting in the audience to celebrate this special time with her.

As a parent you question almost everything you do in regards to your kids!  Almost every decision has them at the center of it.  As parents, you wonder if you're raising a polite, respectful, giving, loving (and the list goes on and on) child.  It was so special that someone else recognized her work ethic and it made us feel pretty proud as parents.

Way to go Aubrey!  We're so proud of you!

100th Day of Kindergarten!

It's official!  The 100th day of school is in the books!

Time flies when you're having fun and boy do these kiddos have fun in Kindergarten!

On this day Brandon, Lucy and I got to help out in some centers in Aubrey's class.  The made necklaces out of fruit loops (each with 100 cereal pieces), stamped 100 stamps on a sheet of paper, created a '100th Day Crown,' and put together a snack with 100 single food items. Lucy got in on on the fun too!

Before the day was up, the class got to enjoy their 100th day cake and celebrate a little bit more at the end of the day.

It was a rainy day and there was lots of energy in the room!  The kids were buzzing with excitement!

It was so great to have this opportunity to be there with Aubrey!

Happy 100th day of school!

Winter in Tahoe 2017

Back in January there were a series of storms that hit pretty hard.  We had non stop rain in Sacramento and Tahoe was pounded with lots and lots of snow that took out power to much of the towns there because of snowfall.

Brandon had planned to take the girls up for his weekend one week, but that failed because the power was out at the cabin for days on end.  Then we wanted to go a following weekend and the power went out again.  I mean, you can survive with no power, but it's pretty miserable without heat and light!  The cabin doesn't have a wood burning fireplace, so it wasn't really an option to go up at that point.  So, we waited and finally, late one Saturday night, the power went back on!  So Sunday was spent getting our gear together to make it up to the snow for one night.  Luckily Aubrey and I had that particular Monday off, so it worked out perfectly!

And...there was snow! And LOTS of it!

The girls and their daddy were in heaven!

There was definitely enough snow for snowman making and Aubrey and daddy made a cute, little snowman that set our mini trip on the right foot :).

The next day the skies were clear and absolutely beautiful!

Our friends, the Purintons met us up there for the day and we couldn't have asked for a more fun, perfect day together! It was wonderful!

The air was crisp and cold, but oh so beautiful with all the fresh fallen snow!

We walked down to the dock area and we found an epic looking snowman just waiting for us :).

The kids had fun riding in the back of our car to get back to some warmth :).

After some lunch, it was time to play in all the fresh powder that was around!

And play we did!

Aubrey tried snowboarding for the first time and she actually got the hang of it pretty quickly!  After about fifteen minutes of trying, falling, and trying again, she got it!!

Lucy was perfectly content with eating snow as she watched her sister :).

You did Aubrey!!!

I guess it may be time to take her on some actual slopes soon 😉.

Oh these kids and their parents...we love them!

Such a fun day, in a beautiful place, creating memories we'll treasure forever.
