Happy 3rd Birthday Lucy!

Oh little Lucy, (and by little we do mean little with you weighing in at only 25 pounds!) where do we begin to explain how wonderful you are and how wonderful you have made each and every day in the life of our family.

One word that always comes to our minds, and we call you this all the time, is quirky! You make us laugh at how intentional you are in making jokes and making things funny. Your little manorisms, like when you make your silly faces, how your little lips make the funniest shapes, to the way you use your arms to tell us exactly what you are trying to explain to us are some of our favorites. You're a ham :). You'll do anything for a laugh!

You do a little jig just to make us laugh. When you know that you're getting in trouble you try and diffuse the situation or consequence by doing or saying something funny (we're on to you little one!).

You can be very ornery...in a good way for the most part :).

You are talking so much and your little voice is just the cutest. Sometimes just the way you say something or the words you use bring a smile to our faces! We just feel like squeezing you with love sometimes! Some of your big words lately have been enormous, hilarious and scrumptious.

You seem like such a big girl at times. You are potty trained, you help empty the dishwasher, you help dust, put away laundry, you can dress yourself, put your shoes on (and those go on the wrong foot about 40% of the time), you're starting to recognize letter,s and you can count. You love to help mommy bake and you always seem to sneak in any kind of sugar that we put into the recipe. You actually are pretty good with a piping bag :). Sometimes you try to have our back and repeat the things we say to your sister. Recently after we had talked to Aubrey, you threw your hands up and said, "I don't like your attitude!"

You love to sing and dance to music. You have a repituore of songs that you sing in the car on our daily drives. Even when music is on in the car, you sing to your hears content. Some of the songs include "Amazing Grace," "Oh Holy Night," "Jesus Loves Me," and "twinkle-twinkle," and Adele's "Hello." :) You're pretty good about making up your own songs too. You move to the beat of every song even if it's just the tune in a commercial.

You play independently really well and it seems like you always end up looking through a book while you lay on the couch.

You can be a girly-girl, but you love everything about trains, airplanes, getting dirty, and even killing spiders! You asked me for a towel once to go and kill a spider that you found yourself!
Staying still for a tv show is quite difficult for you, but you'll sit through Chuggington and
Super Why. Peter Pan is one movie you'll sit through :)
You do have a very soft and tender side when you are holding and taking care of your little baby dolls.  You can push your little stroller around the house all day!

Sleeping isn't your strong point, but we're thankful you sleep through the night pretty well. Napping can be a struggle as you just want to talk and play, but at least the screaming fits have stopped :). Mornings are not your favorite and you need a little time to yourself to wake up and get yourself ready to go for the day :).

You are still not a great eater. You still really dislike peanut butter, but you'll eat mushrooms, salads, pastas and cheese so we try to fill you up with those things as much as we can. Dinners are spent pleading with you to eat a lot of times, but everyday you eat is a successful day :). Your favorite type of food is Chinese food (and sweets!).

You love to climb and jump off of things, but you do not like being thrown up into the air. Whenever you think you're going to be tossed into the air you hang on with the strength of 1,000 men :).

You are one fast little runner!  I think we might just start you out on the track team soon :).  Your arm movement when you run is pretty cute :).

You love being read to and we love cuddling with you on our laps :).

The love for your sister is so heartwarming. You always want to show her what you've created or what you're wearing and you want her approval every time. Of course there is a quarrel here and there, but you play so well with Aubrey. We love to sit back and watch you interact together. Your interactions with your sister are best described one of two ways; either mischievous play and laughter or fighting over the same toy that neither of you actually want!  You talk to Aubrey like you're the big sister sometimes and try to encourage her. You try to get her out of a bad mood by making her laugh or encourage her to stop crying.  It's the sweetest thing when you tell Aubrey, "Don't let the bad bugs bite," when she's going to bed.

You may be tiny, but you can hold your own little lady.

Your favorite color is yellow and we think that suits your personality just perfectly :).

Your fun-loving spirit brings us so much joy every single day!

You always remind us of the things you will be able to do 'when you're old enough' all the time.  Just don't grow up too fast, ok? :)

All this being said you, our little lady, are one indescribable little girl. Happy 3rd birthday Lucy!  We pray for you every single day. You are so very precious to us and we love you so much baby girl!

Love,
Daddy and Mommy
