Big Girl Bed for Lucy!

Well, its been time for our little Lucy to get her very own big girl bed.  She's learned how to climb over her crib, she's chewed on the crib rails, it's been turned into a toddler bed, and the mattress has been torn because both girls were jumping on it!  It was time and this girl was ready.

We drew up the plans for my grandfather (Lucy's great-grandfather) to make the bed.  He's made almost all the furniture we have in our home and he is a talented craftsman and loves to work with his hands.  We think it's so special he made Lucy's very first bed :).  Brandon painted it and all we needed now was the mattress and all the bed covers.  My grandpa even put in an inset on the headboard so we can upholster it later, but for now here it is!

The comforter was from a company that we got Aubrey's comforter from.  I loved Aubrey's so much I wanted to find a similar look for Lucy's room too.  Only drawback...this company doesn't sell their products in the United States.  (I had friends bring back Aubrey's from Canada :) ).  So, we have a friend who was living in Australia at the time and she offered to help us out!  I ordered it, it was shipped to her place, and then she hand delivered it to us when she came back to the states!  What a good friend!

I was so happy with it when I opened it up and I loved all the little details on it.  So creative, girly, and fun!  Now to come up with fun things to go on Lucy's wall to match!

Lucy was so thrilled to be in very own big girl bed and Aubrey was just as excited right alongside her. (Seriously so cute how they were jumping around with giggles and excitement!)

Lucy has stayed in her bed during the nights, but naps have been a little trickier to get her to stay in that comfy bed.  All in all we can't complain.  And that smile...you can't wipe it off of her every time she lays down.  She looks so small and tiny in that bed for now, but I know that will change *tear.

It was a little weird to see a bed in place of the crib that has been there for almost 6 years now, but what an exciting change for our little girl.  You're growing up too fast!  Can time just stop now? :)
